Old Man of Hoy and St John's Head are a dramatic sight on the voyage
to Orkney via the ferry, MV Hamnavoe which sails close to these
cliffs on its journey from Scrabster to Stromness. |

History |

Orkney's
heritage is renowned, follow the Orkneyinga Saga, learn about the
Earl's of Orkney and discover some of the amazing monuments and
legends that they left behind. Also visit St Magnus Cathedral which
was founded in 1137 by Earl Rognvold and discover some of its hidden
treasures. |

Orkney
has more archaeological sites per square mile than any other place
in Europe. They include the world famous Skara Brae, Maes Howe and
Ring of Brodgar stone circle, all of which are over 4000 years old
and many are within a just few miles of Stoo B & B. |

more recent history is also apparent, visit the Scapa Flow visitors
centre at Lyness and discover the islands war time past. Orkney's
coast is litted with the haunting relics of those dark days and the
sunken wrecks of the German Fleet in Scapa Flow attract divers from
